» HOW EARLY IS EARLY FOR BUS SERVICESIN THE MORNING

Resideing in the Northern Metro area of Melbourne, It would be great to catch the bus to a train station so I can get the first or second train service out in the morning (Mon to Fri - around 5 AM ) to Flinders Street Station. So... how early is too early. Post Attachment

I would suggest that for the specifics of bus timetabling you either contact the service provider in your area, Metlink, or our colleagues at the Bus Association of Victoria. The more requests a provider or Government gets for a service, the more likely they are to make sure the demand is met. This ties into the wider issue of the value of a passenger on a seat and how our State Government's measure it when they plan public transport.

I think that in a city the size of Melbourne there is no excuse for public transport not to be close to 24 hours operation. Last time I was in Sydney (a long time ago) the bus services finished at 2AM and started at 4AM so the depots were open almost 24 hours. It is the public transport that holds the cities together
